Azure – NFS v3 and v4 are now available for Storage Account (Preview)

Good news for those working with Azure Storage Account, support for NFS (Network File System) v3 and v4 have been added to Azure Storage Account.

That said, there is currently a requirement to first register your subscription as this is currently in preview; registration form is available at https://aka.ms/AzureNFSPreview

For your information:

  • NFS v3 is best suited for large scale read-heavy sequential access workload where data will be ingested once and minimally modified further (like backup and archive or NFS apps for media rendering)
  • NFS v4 is optimized for random access workloads with in-place data updates, providing full POSIX file system support
