Intune – Administrators can now locate devices

When you manage a fleet of devices, it is some time important to be able to locate these devices, especially when reported lost or stolen by end-users before requesting a remote wipe.

Well, Intune administrators can now request to locate a Windows device from the Endpoint Configuration Manager portal (https://endpoint.microsoft.com/).

To locate a device, connect to your Endpoint Manager Portal and access the Devices\Windows\Windows Devices blade to search for the device you want to locate

Then click on the device and open the ellipsis menu (you know the 3 dots) to select Locate device

You will need to confirm you want to locate the device.

NOTE once located, the information will be available for 24 hours. After this period you will have to request again

Give few minutes for the location to perform; if the device is not online or connected to internet it may take longer off course.

Once the location is completed (you can check by looking at the Device actions and status logs shown on the Overview tab of the device) you can go back to the Locate menu and the device location will be shown on the map
